Baking NOMU MiniMakes in the air fryer

Save on time and electricity by baking your favourite NOMU MiniMakes Small Batch Baking mixes in the air fryer!

Start by mixing up your chosen MiniMakes Dough or Batter Mix following the directions on the side of the box. Then get ready to bake…err, air fry!

Keep in mind that like ovens, air fryers will vary when it comes to temperature and time – some even have super handy baking functions! So use the below as a guide to fine-tune to your model.

Happy Baking!

THE BASICS

For all our MiniMakes mixes, we set the air fryer to 160°C and preheated it for 2-3 minutes before baking. Feel free to use built-in bake settings if you have them!

For most recipes, start by greasing and lining whatever baking vessel fits in your air fryer, bearing in mind that glass and ceramic dishes may require more baking time than cake tins. Silicone moulds also work well. For most of our recipe tests, we used a standard 18cm cake tin.

MINIMAKES CAKE BATTER MIXES

For classic single layer/sheet cakes, bake for 25 minutes, then cover with tin foil if the top is darkening too much, and continue to bake for another 10 minutes (or until cooked through when tested with a skewer). Make sure the tin foil is securely tucked underneath your baking dish so that it doesn’t blow around your air fryer during baking!

For cupcakes, divide your batter between silicone cases or stiff cupcake cups (don’t use the usual paper liners as these aren’t strong enough to hold the batter without a tin). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through when tested with a skewer.

MINIMAKES BROWNIE & BLONDIE MIXES

For brownie squares or slices, bake for about 15 minutes or until cooked through but still fudgy in the center. The centre will look slightly puffed, and a skewer inserted into the middle should come out with a few sticky crumbs. Make sure not to overbake, otherwise your brownie will be cakey and dry.

For a gooey brownie skillet, bake in a glass or ceramic baking dish to make it easier to share, and bake for a few minutes less to get that soft gooey center.

For brownie bites, use a small mini cupcake tin, mini cupcake cases or dariole moulds. You can even buy a cheap silicone mould and cut it to fit inside your air fryer basket (or into individual cups)!

MINIMAKES COOKIE MIXES

For classic chewy or choc chip cookies, line the base of your air fryer with a piece of baking paper or air fryer liner, then place a few cookies on top. Make sure to allow enough space for spreading! Bake for 10-12 minutes or until puffed but still soft in the center, and allow to cool slightly before enjoying.

To save on time, make cookie bars! Press all your cookie dough into one dish/tin and slice into portions after baking – our 18cm cake tin took 15 minutes to bake.

For a gooey cookie pots, add choc chips to your cookie dough and divide it between 4-6 ramekins. Bake for 10 minutes (this will vary depending on the size of your ramekins) until cooked through but still soft in the middle, and serve with scoops of ice cream.

Hot tip: You can bake cookies in the air fryer from frozen! Whip up a batch of your favourite cookie dough, portion into rounds and chill in the freezer until solid. Store in a ziplock bag, and simply pop a few in the air fryer whenever the craving hits!

MINIMAKES ALL PURPOSE MIX

Believe it or not, you can also bake stunning scones in the air fryer using our NOMU MiniMakes All Purpose Mix! Bake at 180°C for 8-12 minutes until golden and serve warn with whipped cream and jam.
