Decadent French-style hot chocolate
Thick, rich and luscious, this French-inspired version of hot chocolate is a wickedly delicious drink that will have you ginning from ear to ear. We suggest serving this rich hot chocolate in smaller mugs, perhaps with an splash of coffee liqueur as a nightcap-dessert.

Decadent French-style hot chocolate

Servings: 2-4

Ingredients

1 1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup cream (or sub with more milk)
2 pumps NOMU Vanilla Paste
2 tbsp icing sugar
2 tsp NOMU Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 tsp cornflour
Pinch salt
100g NOMU Decadent Hot Chocolate pieces

Vanilla Chantilly Cream:
1/4 cup whipping cream
A few pumps NOMU Vanilla Paste
2 tsp icing sugar (optional)

Directions

Place the milk, cream and vanilla paste in a small saucepan. Heat gently over medium-low heat, stirring often, until steaming. Make sure to scrape the base and edges of the pan to avoid the milk from catching and burning.

Meanwhile, combine the icing sugar, Cocoa Powder, cornflour and salt in a small bowl. Pour a little of the warm milk mixture into the dry mix and whisk to form a smooth paste. Pour the paste back into the saucepan and stir with a spatula to combine.

Add the Decadent Hot Chocolate pieces and continue stirring over low heat until completely melted and the hot chocolate is thickened and smooth.  You can add an extra splash of milk to thin out the hot chocolate if you like.

To prepare the chantilly cream, place all the ingredients into a small mixing bowl and whip with an electric hand mixer to soft peaks.

Pour the hot chocolate into small serving mugs and enjoy with a dollop of vanilla chantilly cream and chocolate shavings.

Tip: Use a spatula to mix your hot chocolate instead of a whisk to keep the mixture thick and creamy.
