SELF-SAUCING CHOCOLATE COBBLER

Servings: 6-8

Ingredients

Chocolate cake:
1 cup cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup white sugar
½ cup milk
90 g butter, melted
 
Chocolate topping:
1 cup light brown sugar
1 ¼ cups boiling water

Directions

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Generously butter a large baking dish and set aside.

Sift together the flour, NOMU Cocoa Powder, baking powder and salt and whisk in the sugar until combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and melted butter; add to the dry ingredients and mix well to form a smooth batter. Spread the batter into the prepared dish and set aside.

For the chocolate topping, whisk together the sugar, NOMU Cocoa Powder and Salt in a small bowl. Evenly sprinkle the mixture over the top of the chocolate cake batter.

Stir the NOMU Vanilla Extract into the hot water and slowly pour on top of the sugar mixture over the back of a spoon, being careful not to disturb the cake batter too much.

Carefully place the baking dish into the centre of the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the middle is just set.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
