Vegan Dark Chocolate Orange Brownies
Dark chocolate and orange are one of the most luxurious flavour combos in the baking world. In this recipe, rubbing fresh orange zest into the brownie sugar releases all its essential oils and aromas, lacing these fudgy vegan brownies with a delicate citrus flavour.

Vegan Dark Chocolate Orange Brownies

Makes: 6-8 brownies

Ingredients

1 box NOMU minimakes Chocolate Brownie Batter Mix
Zest of 2 oranges
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1/3 cup (80ml) dairy-free milk (we used soy), room temperature or slightly warmed
50g vegan dark chocolate, melted

Directions

Preheat the oven to 160°C (fan-assisted convection) and line a 21 x 11cm loaf tin with baking paper.

Place the sugar (sachet 1) and orange zest into a bowl and rub together with your fingertips. Add the oil and soy milk and whisk to combine, then drizzle in the chocolate, whisking continuously, until incorporated. Add the brownie mix (sachet 2) and gently fold in to form a smooth, glossy batter.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared loaf tin and bake for 35-40 minutes until cooked through but still fudgy in the center. Allow to cool completely before slicing into 6 triangles or 8 squares.

Tip: Make sure your soy milk is room temperature (or slightly warmed in the microwave) before using. This will prevent your melted chocolate from solidifying when it is added.

Top your sliced brownies with extra grated orange zest for an extra burst of flavour!
