Salted Indian Spiced Banana Fritters

Ingredients

Banana fritters:
750ml vegetable oil, for deep frying
2-3 green (unripe) bananas
1 tbsp NOMU Indian Rub
1 tsp NOMU Essentials Cyprus Sea Salt Flakes

Batter:
¼ cup flour
1 egg, whisked
150-200 ml cold beer
1 tsp NOMU Indian Rub

Directions

Fill a wok or medium-sized heavy pot one-third full of oil and heat to 180°C or until a small cube of bread dropped into the oil browns in 15 seconds.

Meanwhile, prepare the batter by placing the flour and egg in a mixing bowl. Add the beer and NOMU Indian Rub and lightly whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Peel the bananas and slice at an angle into rounds about ½ cm thick.

Using two forks, dip the banana slices in the batter and carefully place in the hot oil. Deep fry in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown, taking care that they have room to move around and do not stick to each other. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Sprinkle over the NOMU Indian Rub and NOMU Essentials Cyprus Sea Salt Flakes while hot.
